Year in review: A look back to some of our highlights of 2018

2018 is coming to an end and it’s a great opportunity to share and review some of the goals we achieved over the course of this year.

A year full of new features and product innovation

Consumers expectation for more personalized and entertaining content and digital interaction is pushing traditional media and brands to enhance the connection with their audiences with multi-platform experiences. In 2018 we released important new features to help our customers attract, retain and monetize audiences. Take a look:

Scoring mechanic

With this new mechanic, broadcasters can now ask viewers to rate artists or participants of a talent show, players or sport teams after a game or any other options you want to get your audience involved with. Partial or final results can be integrated on-air.

Quick Polls mechanic

With this new solution, customers can now easily create quick polls to ask their audience to participate. Same is with the Scoring mechanic, participation is anonymous, happens on their customer's own digital property.

Facebook Reactions support for FB Live

We’ve added support to measure and build engagement using FB Reactions. This new feature allows customers to create polls or other participation mechanics, which can in turn be easily integrated on a live broadcast (traditional TV or FB Live).

Shark Talk Mexico (Sony Channel) has been using Flowics to promote multiple participation mechanics and integrate social content and Facebook reactions on their Facebook Lives right after each episode on linear TV.

YouTube Live chat messages support

For streamers and content producers who are already leveraging YouTube Live, this new filter helped them to curate and moderate all comments shared by the audience in the YouTube Live chat box.

(Shoptime, a Brazilian Home Shopping channel, uses our YT Live integration to showcase audience comments and run polls during their live  broadcast)

WhatsApp content curation support

This year Flowics started to support WhatsApp as a new source of User-Generated Content.  By means of this new filter (which can be combined with our existing filters for Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube), brands and media can now collect, curate organize and display WhatsApp content, including photos, videos, voice and text messages, sent to a specific phone number.

New customers, great use cases

During 2018,  Flowics has been used by leading broadcasters, brands and sports entities who seek for new ways to connect with their audiences and consumers, taking advantage of User-Generated Content and interactive participation. Here's a short list of selected cases:

News & Elections Social Media coverage

This one has been a year of elections in Brazil and Mexico. This is  how Grupo Imagen and RedeTV! have been using Flowics to deliver a complete Social coverage before, during and after presidential debates and on the election day, showing social conversation trends and relevant social content.

Scoring mechanic for Sports and Entertainment TV shows

The scoring mechanic has been one of the our most popular features released this year, and many customers decided to implement it on their TV shows in order to give their audiences a voice.

Quick Polls mechanic and Instagram Likes counters

Instagram is becoming more and more a network used by broadcasters to interact with their audiences. A clear example of this is how "El Nueve" proposed this Instagram Likes Battle for their popular show "Combate". And in order to make the experience even more participatory, the show also used our Quick Polls Mechanic.

Integration on Live streaming

From large sporting events, to  entertainment shows, broadcasters have been using Facebook Live, Youtube Live and Twiter Live to connect with their audiences on other devices beyond TV, in fact, for the very first time ever, Turner/Esporte Interativo Live streamed a UEFA Super Cup match on Facebook Live, and this is how they invited the audience to get involved and participate before, during and after the match.

Monetizing On Air experiences

During 2018 we've also seen some great examples of how tv producers monetized social integrations and digital experiences. Such is the case of MTV Brasil.

UGC becoming a key element for the Travel & Hospitality industry

We cannot end this summary without highlighting how some big brands are using Flowics UGC platform. Special mention for our customer Meliá Hotels International, one of the leading hospitality brands and groups worldwide, who has been using our platform to find and curate UGC shared by hotel guests at different locations, and to manage user rights, to repurpose this content on their own social channels and digital properties, using our Shoppable Content solution.
